The Hilden Lodge
is under new
ownership.
Sharon and Gavin
Atkinson
acquired Hilden
Lodge in
September 2006
and have
completed a
major
refurbishment
program which
ended in March
2007. All
guest bedrooms
and public areas
and the outside
of the building
have been fully
renovated
including
refitting of
ensuite
bathrooms,
rewiring,
new plumbing and
heating and new
furnishings and
furniture
throughout.
Hilden Lodge was
originally named
Castleton Villa
and was
apparently built
as the lodge for
Castleton House
at the end of
Hearne Road. The
original
building was
constructed in
the early 1800’s
and retains a
number of
original
features
including
cornicing,
plaster coving
etc. The Lodge
became a guest
house about 30
years ago and
was then
extended in the
early 80’s.The
lodge has
8 rooms on the
first floor and
2 on the second,
a small bar area
and a
restaurant/dining
room to seat
30-40 people.
The complete
refurbishment
included
renovation of
every room and
ensuite to
create clean,
modern guest
rooms all with
en-suite
facilities
(including 2
full bath
en-suites).
In addition to
quality bed and
breakfast
accommodation,
Hilden Lodge also offer
services
including business
meetings,
functions etc.
