Hilden Lodge is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area.  There is so much to see and do.  Have a look at our favourites below.

Sudeley Castle and Gardens

Open from 30th March to 1st November 2009, 10.30am – 5pm.

Only a 20 minute drive from Hilden Lodge.

The beautiful Castle is famously known for once being the home of Queen Katherine Parr, the only surviving wife of Henry VIII.  It is currently the family home of the Dent-Brocklehursts and Lord & Lady Ashcombe.  The family even offer private tours of the apartments; Tuesday – Thursday only.

Pittville Pump Room and Gardens

The Pump Room was built by the architect John Forbes between 1825 and 1830.  It is a Grade I listed building standing at the northern end of Pittville Lawn with landscaped grounds running down to a lake. The building contains the original Pump, made of marble and scagliola, to which the waters are today fed by electric pumping.

Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum

The gallery first opened in 1899 with 43 paintings, given to gallery by the third Baron de Ferrieres, a former Mayor and MP for Cheltenham.  In 1905 the Museum opened up in the rooms of the premises next to the gallery, which had been vacated by the Schools of Art and Science.

Cotswold Farm Park

The Cotswold Farm Park is the home of Rare Breed Conservation set high up on the Cotswold Hills in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, only a 20 minute drive from Hilden Lodge.  Their comprehensive collection of over 50 breeding flocks and herds of British rare breed farm animals was established in the late 1960s when many of the breeds were faced with extinction.  This is a great day out for all the family.

Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens

Cotswold Wildlife Park is set in 160 acres of parkland and gardens around a listed Victorian Manor House.  The Park is home to a fascinating and varied collection of mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates from all over the world.  The gardens are beautiful and are described as “Theatre with Plants”.  All this just over 30 minutes drive away from Hilden Lodge.

Cotswold Towns and Villages

Within a 30 minute drive of Hilden Lodge are some of the prettiest towns and villages in the country!  The honey coloured stone buildings, old-world charm and tranquility sums up the Cotswold magic.  They are also great for shopping with some wonderful independent shops and boutiques.  Our personal favourites are Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford, The Slaughters and Stow on the Wold.
